About the Philatelic Service

The high artistic and technical quality of Norwegian stamps puts them in a strong position at the top of the international league. Norway has a moderate stamp-issuing policy and issues about 30 stamps each year.

The stamp subjects cover a wide range of themes. Sport is represented; city anniversaries are commemorated, and colourful issues describing Norway’s flora and fauna. Norwegian culture, from Grieg’s music to the highlights of applied art, is also well represented. Our stamps are also put to use in the service of tourism. The midnight sun, the North Cape, the Express Coaster, the fjords of Western Norway, mountains and waterfalls – you will find them all in our rich Norwegian stamp flora.
