Rail Anniversaries

The Rauma Railway is the only railway in Møre and Romsdal. The railway originally had 12 stations and stops, but now only the end stations Åndalsnes and Dombås are serviced.
The railway line is 114.2 kilometres long and serves as a branch line from the Dovre Line, passing under both Trollveggen and Romsdalshorn. It is worth noting that the Rauma Railway played an important role during battle in 1940. It was used to transport both Norwegian and British forces to the battles in Eastern Norway before the capitulation, and later as a transport artery for evacuating Norway's gold reserves.

The Gråkallen Line is a suburban tram in Trondheim, and was the only tram line outside Oslo until the Bergen Light Rail opened in June 2010. An interesting fact is that when the tram lines in Arkhangelsk in Russia were closed down in 2004, the Gråkallen Line was named the world's northernmost tram line.
