Summer Festivals
For over 30 years, Riddu Riđđu has strived to build greater awareness and pride around the Sami. The festival has gradually grown in size and become a significant and important part of the Sami cultural development in the Sea Sami areas. The festival in Kåfjord takes place outdoors and has programmes for the whole family.
Vinjerock aims to provide a good mix of lively tunes and artists from both near and far, along with activities for everyone, taste experiences for the foodies and plenty of fun. The festival takes place every July over the course of three days. At Eidsbugarden on the banks of Bygdin, 3500 hard-nuts gather to enjoy great music with Jotunheimen as a backdrop.
Ekstremsportveko is the world's largest extreme sports festival and takes place every June in Voss. The event centres around the four elements: water, air, earth and fire, and throughout the week, Norwegian and international athletes compete and challenge themselves in the natural elements.
According to the organisers of Palmesus, the festival in Kristiansand is tailor-made for those who seek all the good life has to offer. Festival-goers praise the great atmosphere and legendary feast — and say this is quite simply a bucket-list experience.
